Who would have thought that one could enjoy a tranquil lake with swans, trails, lily ponds, rose gardens, waterfalls and a Dutch Windmill without having to leave Los Angeles? Lake Shrine can be your secret spot to escape the hustle and bustle of the city! Actually, this place was loved by the King himself, Elvis Presley. Another tidbit: Gandhi's ashes are stored here near the landmark, the Golden Lotus Archway. Needless to say, bring your camera.
This 10-acre outdoor oasis is tucked away in...
Pacific Palisades near Malibu. Lake Shrine is open until 4:45 PM every day except closed on Mondays. The small free parking lot can get busy on Sundays for religious services, so you may opt to go on other days (except Valentine's on a Sunday might be worth the trek). Don't worry, no one will preach or try to convert you! Lake Shrine is open to the public of all faiths for free. All in all, this is an ideal spot for a nice relaxing "day" date. Enjoy!
